He started his acting career in 2003. Furthermore, he directed and starred in two films, Daira and Botal Gali, based on the Mohsin Hamid book Moth Smoke, in 2003 and 2005. He also appeared in the drama series Ana on Geo in 2004. Nawaz gained notoriety for writing and producing the movie Chambaili.
